Think of the world as you know it, and then try to visualize the "spirit world" on top of this world, operating simultaneously to this one.  The best way to explain this, as I have discerned with benevolent, heavenly spirits inside of my own home, is that there are spirits everywhere you go. In your home, vehicle, office, park - everywhere.  They function just as you do, but most of the time you won't see them.  Those who are sensitive to spirits, spiritual activity or similar types of phenomena may see full apparitions, shadows or half-second sparks of light or literally the energy that a spirit gives off.  If you can channel spirits, you may be able to channel spirits inside of your home that are functioning day to day just as you do.
